Toddler-Friendly & BLW
A quick, soft, and nutritious flatbread made with fresh spinach, yogurt, and simple pantry ingredients — ready in under 10 minutes and perfect for serving with curries, dips, or as a snack for the whole family.

My toddler absolutely loves bread — any kind of bread. So I made it my mission to sneak a few extra nutrients into the ones he munches on! By blending fresh spinach right into the dough, this naan gets a gentle boost of greens while staying soft, fluffy, and delicious.
Made with simple ingredients like flour, soy yogurt, and fresh spinach, this homemade naan is cooked in a pan and ready in minutes. It’s perfect for dipping into curries, scooping up dal, or serving alongside your favourite family meals. Or just like my toddler loves it — bite-sized pieces on the go.
I don’t know a lot about toddlers yet as he is my first and we don’t have a lot of friends with children, but do all of them love bread that much? Mine is obsessed with it. There was a while when we had to hide bread on the table, because as soon as he spotted it he would refuse to eat anything else and demand the bread. That’s how I started creating healthier breads, so we wouldn’t have to hide them anymore. Let me know in the comments if your little one is also a bread addict!

Ingredients
Spinach
Fresh spinach is blended into the dough, adding natural color and a boost of nutrients like iron and vitamins. It’s a great way to sneak greens into meals for kids.
Flour
All-purpose flour creates soft and fluffy naan. You can also substitute part of it with whole wheat flour for a slightly nuttier flavor and extra fiber.
Yogurt
Yogurt makes the dough tender and adds a slight tang that gives naan its classic flavor.
Self-raising flour
Self-raising flour already contains a leavening agent and salt, which helps the naan become soft and fluffy without needing yeast or baking powder.
Olive Oil
A little oil keeps the dough soft and prevents the naan from drying out.
Salt
Just enough salt enhances the flavor of the bread.
Water or Milk
Used to bring the dough together and create a soft, workable texture.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why won’t my blender blend the spinach-yogurt mixture?
This often happens with high-powered blenders when the volume is too small. Just add 1–2 tablespoons of plant milk — that’s usually enough to help the blender catch the ingredients and blend everything smoothly.
Is spinach naan suitable for babies?
Yes — this naan is suitable for baby-led weaning from around 6 months. Cut into strips, babies can grasp it easily. Just leave the salt out for babies under 12 months, and the butter-parsley brush is optional.
Can I make the dough ahead of time?
Yes! You can make the dough up to 24 hours in advance and keep it covered in the fridge. Let it come back to room temperature briefly before shaping.
Can I freeze spinach naan?
Absolutely. Let cooked naan cool completely, stack with baking paper between each, and freeze. They keep for up to 2 months. Reheat directly from frozen in a pan or toaster — no thawing needed.
How many naan does this recipe make?
This recipe makes 4 naan — a size that works well in practice. They’re handy for little eaters and big enough for adults too.
